I saw Leslie in 2010 and we spoke for some time.  She was just as sweet and beautiful as she was in high school.

I met Leslies in seventh grade at Miami Springs Jr. High. She always sat just in front of me because she was smarter and more beautiful. Last saw her at a reunion in tallahassee.  Bye Leslie

Here is the obituary posted in the Miami Herald on April 28, 2013 for Leslie.  The "In Memory" page lists her passing as 2010.  Could Admin please make the correction.

Leslie Blackstone Millard

October 9, 1947 - April 8, 2013

Leslie Blackstone Millard was born in Evanston, IL in 1947 to Bob and Jane Blackstone.  She was the middle child, with brothers Denny and Phil.

The family lived in Maine and later settled in Miami, FL. Young Leslie loved to climb trees and swim.  She was on the Miami Springs swim team for many years and maintained friendships with her teammates throughout her entire life.

Leslie married Mike Millard in August of 1965 and they had two children, Jenny and Dan.

Leslie held a variety of positions throughout her life, all devoted to caring for others.  She would eventually become certified as a Doula.

After Hurricane Andrew's unwelcome visit, the family moved to Winter Park, FL.  There, Leslie volunteered with Hospice, read the newspaper on the public radio station weekly, taught a multitude of toddlers how to swim, and became a nanny to a principal dancer at the Orlando Ballet.

Leslie eventually moved to Bend, Oregon, following her daughter and granddaughter, where she lived for 2 years before her untimely death.  All who knew her will remember her love for children and the ever present camera in her hand, the lens of which was always seeking the best light.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert & Jane Blackstone, and brother: Denny Blackstone.

Leslie is survived by her children: Dan Millard, Jenny (Bryan) Malone; granddaughter: Addy Jane Malone; brother: Phil (Della) Blackstone; sister-in-law: Charyto Blackstone; nephews Jonathan Blackstone, Brian (Laura) Blackstone; cousins: Didi, Rafe, Tom & Emily Salvatierra; devoted friends: Julian Fisher & Nancy Castner; and a host of friends across the country.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Charles Cancer Center and the staff of Partners in Care Hospice in Bend.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  The family requests donations be made in Leslie's honor to Partners In Care, 2075 NE Wyatt Court, Bend, Oregon, 97701.
