In Memory

Martin Taber

Marty was a chopper pilot and was killed in combat in Vietnam. He is on the Vietnam wall and can be accessed on the web. Marty and others of our class paid the ultimate price for freedom for people he never even knew. God bless all those men and women who signed a blank check to our country that said you can take everything I have up to and including my life. None of us will forget any of you.

Please do not forget Martin. Go to page 265 of our annual and look at his senior picture and remember him in your prayers. Then go to page 111 and see his picture with our football team at the end of row two. All the guys from our class who served in Vietnam need to be remembered and honored for their service.

What compels a fellow warrior to take risks, act courageously, and make the ultimate sacrifice? Our classmate, Marty, inspired me in class and life. His took an oath to the nation and my compact as a citizen will honor it. Let's not forget him! See what others also posted to his memory on the Virtual Wall. Find the web address on the memory post by Don Boyd just below mine. Pete.

Martin was a good friend - smart, funny, kind.  He loved to argue with the teacher (Mr. Kaspar?) in World History. He called me "Tark", which of course I hated. The last time I saw him was at my graduation party. My Dad worked with a friend of Martin's at the Hialeah Post Office, and found out about Martin before the Obituary came out.  Complete shock. I've seen his name on the Wall in D.C. What a sacrifice he made for us all!
